NEW Servo Switch/Controller

The NEW Microbotics Servo Driver/Safety Switch will begin delivery in March 2005. It is a microprocessor-controlled system providing an interface between a customer system controller or autopilot and the servo actuators controlling the vehicle.
Servo Driver/Safety Switch

Servo Controller/Safety Switch
The Servo Driver/Safety Switch is a single board, using a 44-pin high-density D-subminiature connector for all interface signals. The on-board power converter accepts 10-32 VDC; the Servo Driver/Safety Switch provides two RS-232 asynchronous serial ports and 30 digital I/O lines. It can function as a PWM-controlled safety switch. The safety switch functionality is a means to allow a remotely located "safety controller" to take control of the vehicle in the event of autopilot programming failure. The safety control inputs, typically received via a separate RC receiver, would usually correspond one-to-one to the servo outputs. An additional safety control input is used as a command from the safety controller that determines whether the vehicle is controlled via the autopilot or by the safety control inputs, thus giving the safety controller a means of manually taking control of the vehicle.
